Verse 8 — Pacification through Temperance

« As rain does not penetrate a well-covered house, so passion does not penetrate a well-trained mind. »

Practice peacefully

Visualize your body and mind as a sheltered and balanced space. Faced with the external disturbances of the day (noise, stress, solicitations), keep your attention anchored in your breath to preserve the stability of your inner roof.

Reflection and Explanation

The image of the « well-covered house » offers a powerful analogy for the protection of the bodily and mental ecosystem. A house whose roof is solid and watertight remains dry and preserved, regardless of the intensity of the storm or the violence of external weather. Similarly, a regulated organism and a mind trained in presence do not allow themselves to be overwhelmed by ambient imbalances, emotional reactivity, or surrounding agitation. Passion (Raga) here represents all forms of excess and misalignment that infiltrate the flaws of our inattention. Regenerative care — whether it concerns work on temperature, the use of water, or moderation in diet — precisely constitutes means of maintaining the organism's « roof ». By strengthening the foundation and cultivating a centered mind, we create a natural barrier where external aggressions no longer find a foothold, thus ensuring the longevity of profound vitality.
